JFS Summer Counselor

The University of Mary Washington James Farmer Scholars Summer Program is a week long summer enrichment program consisting of students, ages 12 – 17. In keeping with our main goal of educating the scholars, our focus will be on educational classes. Beginning June 22nd through June 29th, 2014, scholars will have the opportunity to participate in classes which include; math, science, African American literature, salsa dancing, writing, web site and newsletter design, poetry, and leadership. The scholars will also enjoy several trips and exciting activities such as; trips to visit museums, pool parties, challenging ropes course, and other exciting events. We are looking for sponsors who are willing to give up one week to dedicate to the James Farmer Summer Program.

We are looking for outgoing college students, that are rising juniors or seniors, with experience in leadership, mentoring, and working with middle and high school students.  Counselors will be required to live on campus for the entire week of June 221 – June 29, 2014, and to fully participate in all trips and events. You must possess a valid driver’s license.
