The Office of Violence Against Women, part of the US Department of Justice, was created in 1995 and administers financial and technical assistance to communities across the country that are developing programs, policies, and practices aimed at ending domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. OVW provides federal leadership in developing the national capacity to reduce violence against women and administer justice for and strengthen services to victims of these crimes.

2016 Futures Without Violence Grant [$30,000]
College Sexual Assault Policy and Prevention Initiative through Office on Women’s Health

Status: COMPLETED
In July 2016, the Office on Women’s Health awarded 9 cooperative agreements totaling $2 million per year, for three years, to organizations that support colleges and universities in preventing sexual assault on campus. Organizations partner with several regional colleges, universities, trade and technical schools to give technical assistance and support to develop and implement sexual assault policies and prevention strategies.

One Love Week – Outstanding Educational Program and Outstanding Collaborative Award
- A week of events to bring awareness about healthy and unhealthy relationships among college age students. The UMW Community had a chance to sign our pledge, spin the “what would you do?” wheel, play One Love Jeopardy, and count yards for Yeardley Love.
- Partners: Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and TEAL Peer Educators
